New Jersey lags other states when it comes to participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which allows schools to feed all kids for free, while reducing the amount of paperwork they must collect from families.
Just a little more than half of eligible New Jersey schools participating in CEP in the 2020-21 school year, according to a recent report from the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC). Nationally, 68% of schools participated.
FRAC provides a host of resources to help school officials participate in CEP.
